Who are 'The Friends'?
'The Friends' is a group of people who raise money for the school, otherwise known as a PTA (Parent Teacher Association), and we are named 'The Friends' to include parents, guardians, friends, grandparents and teaching staff.
The Friends Committee meet once every term to discuss, and together with the school Governors and Head Teacher, plan future events and to decide how to allocate any money raised.
* To promote a close working relationship between parents, staff, children and the
* To raise funds to complement the school's resources.
* To help with activities which support the children's education.
This is achieved by a variety of means such as:
* The School Fete
* Cake Sales
* Coffee mornings
* Various evening/weekend social events (e.g. School Picnics, Skittles Evenings)
* Gift wrap sales / Tea Towel sales / other sales
* Christmas Raffles/Christmas Fair
How you can help?
If you would like to join the committee, or to just come along to one of the meetings you will be made very welcome. We would love to hear from you if you have any new ideas for a fund raising event or an activity. You don't have to 'join' the committee - you could just organise a one-off event. The Friends have charity status (Charity number 1045575) and welcome any donations.
The Chair of The Friends is Helen Ison with other members of the Committee. All can be contacted via the school.
We hope you will agree that The Friends are a valuable part of school life. Without the enthusiasm of parents, grandparents, teachers and friends none of the events would be a success and the children would not benefit from the monies raised. We want to continue to provide our school and children with the additional facilities and opportunities, in order to do this we welcome and appreciate your help and support.
'The Friends' operate a buddy system where a member of each class administers an email list of class members to help with social events, parties, questions, shouts for help, etc. They also welcome and check in on any new parents who join in the school at the start of the academic year and any others should they move into the school at any time during the school year.
How do we get information to you?
All correspondence we send home, either via your child’s book bag or on the Parent Mail system is clearly marked with the Friends heading and logo. There is also a Friends group on Facebook where we share information. This is a closed group closely monitored by our admin team and is only open to family members of current pupils. If you would like to be added to the group search for Friends of Compton and Up Marden CE School request to join.
